The Origin & Story of Ramal Astrology

Ramal Jyotish is one of the most ancient and mystical branches of astrology. It is believed to have been invented by Lord Shiva himself, and later revealed to humanity through divine guidance.

1. Divine Invention by Lord Shiva

According to ancient texts and traditions, Ramal Jyotish was created by Lord Shiva as a sacred system to guide humanity in times of confusion, uncertainty, and difficulty. Goddess Parvati, the eternal consort of Shiva, once asked him:

“O Lord, when human beings face problems in their lives, how will they find true guidance?”

In response, Lord Shiva revealed the secret science of Ramal Shastra. He explained the symbols, signs, and methods by which future events and hidden truths can be understood.

2. Transmission to Humanity

After inventing this divine knowledge, Shiva shared it with Nandi (his divine companion) and Mata Parvati. Later, great sages like Narada Rishi and other Rishis carried this knowledge forward, spreading it across India and even into Arabian lands, where it merged with Ilm-e-Ramal (Arabic geomancy).

3. The System of Ramal

Ramal Jyotish works on 16 divine symbols (Shodash Ramal Sutras).
These symbols are connected to planets, zodiac signs, and deities.
With the help of dice, cowries (shells), or dots on sand/paper, the Ramal chart is created.
By interpreting this chart, astrologers can predict past, present, and future events.

4. Ancient Belief

It is said that Lord Shiva declared Ramal Jyotish as the “Shiva Jnana” (wisdom of Shiva), meant for helping seekers find solutions related to health, wealth, marriage, travel, enemies, and spiritual progress.

5. Spread of Ramal Jyotish

In India, sages and jyotishis preserved this tradition in Sanskrit texts.
In the Middle East, it was adapted as “Ilm-e-Ramal.”
Even today, it is considered one of the most powerful, secretive, and accurate astrological systems.
